Cyberbullying - What can be done about it?
Cyberbullying has hit an all time high in the United States as well as the world! No longer do kids or adults alike have to fear of being known as bullies since they are able to do it from behind a keyboard. In today's society most communication is done through some form of electronics. Computers, cellphones, tablets. The so called social network. The problem is that it's mostly negative. I have 2 daughters of my own as well as 3 stepdaughters and I see it all the time. Boys and girls both feel like they can say whatever they want if it's through electronic means and not face any repercussions. This was never an issue when I was a kid because we didn't have all the access like the kids do now. When I was younger if you were brave enough you would say it to someone's face and then face the consequences. This is a unfamiliar territory for today's parents since it isn't something most of us went through. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it starts with the parents. Parents have to be more aware of what their kids are doing as well as being more active in their kid's lives. So many parents just want their kids to entertain themselves whether on the internet or video games so they don't actually have to be social and have friends. Push your kids to get out and socialize with other others their age, get to know them and some of the negativity will work itself out.
